SUMMARY:Bus Driver Human Trafficking Awareness
DESCRIPTION:Bus drivers are often the first adults to notice when something doesn’t seem right. Because you see students and community members daily\, you are in a powerful position to recognize warning signs of human trafficking such as fearful behavior\, controlling companions\, unexplained injuries\, or individuals who avoid eye contact and conversation. Human trafficking is not just a big-city issue\, it happens in communities of all sizes\, including here in New Mexico. This training will equip you with practical tools to identify red flags\, understand reporting procedures\, and respond safely without putting yourself or others at risk. Awareness leads to action\, and your vigilance could be the difference between continued harm and someone getting the help they desperately need.

SUMMARY:CERT
DESCRIPTION:“This introductory course provides school bus drivers with foundational disaster preparedness knowledge adapted from Unit 1 of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training. The session is designed to improve individual readiness\, enhance on-the-job decision-making during emergencies\, and introduce participants to the broader CERT program as a pathway for continued training. Participants will learn practical\, actionable steps to prepare for emergencies both at home and in a transportation setting. Core topics include personal preparedness principles\, development of a basic “go-kit” tailored to bus drivers\, and situational awareness practices using the “See Something\, Say Something” approach. Instruction emphasizes real-world application\, focusing on scenarios drivers are most likely to encounter. By the end of the session\, participants will: Understand core personal preparedness concepts and their relevance to their role\, Identify essential items for a driver-specific emergency go-kit\, Demonstrate improved situational awareness and hazard recognition\, Understand reporting protocols aligned with “See Something\, Say Something” principles\, Be introduced to CERT training opportunities for further skill development”
